“ Bento Peak offers a variety of dishes with reasonable prices. We've been here a couple times so far and have tried the omakase, spider roll, tempura, miso cod, and hamachi kama. Everything was delicious. You can't go wrong with the mixed tempura, which is crispy and fresh; it came with two shrimp and a handful of mixed vegetables like potato, carrot, broccoli, shishito. Miso cod was tender and buttery, but presentation was awful; instead of one piece, it was served as three small slices and looked sloppy on the plate. Hamachi kama was nice, flakey, and moist and it came with a salty and tart dipping sauce. Omakase is a decent affordable option; it's decent quality, and chef gave a variety of fish. Service is pretty standard and our waters were refilled promptly. Depending on how many dishes you order, your dining table can get crowded quickly. Overall, Bento Peak is a good Japanese restaurant that's affordable, not too high end, and has a very extensive menu. ”
“ I could be gatekeeping this gem but I want them to get the recognition they deserve. By far I think this is one of the best sushi & small plate restaurant I have been to in a while. First off, plates and ambiance was beautiful. The dishes were on heavy ceramic and the sushi looked beautiful on it and tasted even better. The snake fish was my favorite, I had never had it before but I would compare it to walu. All their sushi was fresh and bouncy, even in their happy hour rolls! Everything was made fresh to order and beautifully made. Quality was 100% present here! All our items were from their happy hour menu and we were happy with every dish ”
“ This spot is a fantastic spot if you're looking for a solid, no-fuss meal with great flavor. The vibe is low-key, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or chilling with friends. What really stands out here is the quality of the bento boxes--they're packed with a good variety of fresh ingredients and full of flavor. One dish I always go for is their teriyaki chicken bento. The chicken is juicy and glazed perfectly, and the rice is fluffy, just the right base to balance the savory teriyaki sauce. The veggies are crisp and fresh, and it comes with a little side salad that adds a nice touch of freshness to the meal. The portions are generous, and the prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick, so it's a great spot for a casual meal when you're in the mood for something satisfying but not too heavy. If you're in the area and craving a tasty, well-made bento, Bento Peak is definitely worth a stop. ”
“ My friend and I came here on a Friday night for dinner for their birthday. The waitress was on top of everything. She served us our drinks immediately as we sat down. We kind of knew what we wanted before we arrived and we put in our orders. She was nice enough to tell us that we qualified for a free hamachi kama because we ordered over 100.00. iI've been to places where they don't tell you, so I appreciate her honesty. We got the grilled squid, hamachi carpaccio, and two orders of the sashimi omakase box. The portions of the food were huge! The grilled squid itself almost filled me up. The hamachi carpaccio has the perfect amount of seasoning. The sashimi box has two slices of each fish and it came with uni! Totally worth the price! By the time I got the the last piece we were stuffed! The waitress was so nice and did a little bday cake and gave us shots for my friend. Jer said happy birthday to them like over 10 times. Awesome service! I would definitely come back and try their other food because their bento boxes looked like a good deal as well. ”
“ We got here 5 minutes before they opened and they let us come in and get seated. Quality/Quantity - Chicken Kara-age - My favorite of all the dishes. Deep fried of course... Made to order. The fry was fresh and done perfectly. Takoyaki - My daughter loved this, but I thought it was slightly undercooked. I guess personal preference...? Grilled Asparagus - Wow, rarely do I say I wished there were more veggies! These were grilled and seasoned perfectly. I was actually surprised how small this was. Is asparagus out of season? Almost ordered another one of these as it was barely enough to share. Spicy Tuna Sushi - Made perfectly, just the right amount of spicy. Salmon and Avo - Made fresh. Jalapeno Hamachi Sushi - Decent size jalapeno. But I was surprised that it was not more spicy/hot?!?! Philly Roll - My daughter ordered this. I just find it weird when my sushi has cream cheese. Again, personal preference. 3 Item Bento - Salmon, Chicken and Soba. My guest always wants a bento box. She is a good eater, lol. The lunch menu (and happy hour) seems to have really good deals. I would definitely come back for this. Atmosphere - Decent size local business. Good modern decor. One private room. Well, the restaurant can actually be cut in half to create a semi private room and host an event also. Metered street parking, but not an issue today as we got a space right in front. Clean bathrooms. Open 6 days a week from noon to 9:30pm, closed Tuesdays. Service - Just okay. Not good or bad. Just not very personable. She seemed overwhelmed, even with just two customers to start. But by the time we left, there were approximately 7 tables. She got us everything we asked for. Price - $68 + tip. I felt a good value for what we got. Our guest even had left overs from her 3 item bento box. But then she also sampled everything else that we ordered. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since last year 2023. Looking forward to our next visit. ”
“ We have been eating here quite often and usually get their bento boxes (it's ok) and maybe some rolls. However, I have been on an Omakase Sushi kick lately and this place satisfies. Very good sushi. Love it! Get it! 5 stars for the Omakase sushi. Service and ambiance nice. Located on Geary Blvd between 11th and 12th Avenues. ”
“ We decided to try Bento Peak for our Father's Day dinner. The restaurant only had one other table occupied while we were there, so we probably did not need a reservation. This restaurant has been serving Japanese food for years, but it was under a different name and ownership. We had 6 people in our party. Everyone was hungry, so we ordered plenty of food! Service was friendly and accommodating. Here's the majority of what we ordered, though I lost count: SUSHI DELUXE WITH DRAGON ROLL ~ This was a nice set and the dragon roll was good. 4/5 SASHIMI COMBO (21 PCS) ~ Presentation was okay, but possibly putting the salmon in the middle would have made it prettier since all the other fish are pink or white. 4/5 TORO TARTAR ~ My daughter wanted to try this. Though this dish didn't stand out. Maybe some seasoning like furikake on top besides the raw quail egg, would have made it tastier. 3/5 BEEF TERIYAKI ~ The beef didn't look appetizing. The quality of meat used didn't seem like it was high quality, it was pretty fatty and very thin. 2/5 BENTO BOX (3 ITEMS) BEEF & SALMON TERIYAKI AND TEMPURA ~ For the price, it seemed reasonable. This wasn't my dish, but the person eating it seemed satisfied. 4/5 CHIARASHI DON (2) ~ Good cuts of fish with tamago (egg) and lots of rice. 3.5/5 **SUSHI ROLLS** GEARY BOULEVARD ROLL TEMPTATION ROLL (2) PHILLY ROLL DREAM GIRL ROLL LION KING ROLL All of the rolls were tasty and fresh tasting. Amazingly, we cleared almost everything we ordered! We were starving, so I guess it showed. We also had 2 bottles of nigori to wash it all down! ”
“ I came here when the restaurant was a different name but these may be the same owners. Regardless, the ambiance is casual. Service staff is friendly and circles around to check on you. Food is good. Portions of good size. Tasty and a good value for your money. Bento dinners come with 2 or 3 items. Rolls are cut into 8 pieces and not lacking in ingredients. Everything was satisfying. Give this place a try. ”
